What is a nakshatra?

A nakshatra is one of 27 lunar mansions spanning 13°20′ of the sidereal zodiac. ePandit derives the Moon’s nakshatra and pada from sidereal lunar longitude, and uses the nakshatra lord map to start Vimshottari dasha.

How we compute it

We divide 360° by 27 (about 13.333°) and each nakshatra into four padas of about 3.333°. The ordered list of 27 names and their Vimshottari lords lives in the chart engine.
