What is mangal dosha?
Mangal dosha (manglik) is a chart condition ePandit evaluates when Mars occupies certain houses counted from Lagna, Moon, or Venus. Our engine also applies coded cancellation (parihara) checks. Traditions vary; we publish what we compute.
Houses our engine checks
We check houses 1, 4, 7, 8, and 12 (our North Indian house set). Mars is checked from the Ascendant, from the Moon, and from Venus.
A South-Indian house set that includes the 2nd house exists in research notes but is not the active path we publish.
Cancellation rules we implement
If Mars is in its own signs Mesha or Vrishchika; exalted in Makara; in Jupiter’s signs Dhanu or Meena; in Karka or Simha; or if Jupiter aspects Mars by the 5th, 7th, or 9th house aspects we code — the engine records a cancellation exception.
Saturn occupying a manglik house is tracked for reporting context. We do not use fear language around this result.
