Paya: two traditional methods
By nakshatra: Tamra (copper)
By the Moon's house: Svarna (gold)
There are two folk methods for paya: one from the birth nakshatra, the other from the Moon's house counted from the lagna, and they can give different answers. Neither appears in the classical texts, and no ceremony depends on it. Treat it as a piece of traditional information, not a sign of luck.
Your birth nakshatra is one of the six that tradition calls gandamula (Ashwini, Ashlesha, Magha, Jyeshtha, Mula, Revati). Dharmasindhu describes an optional shanti for it, and many families simply do a small puja on the day the Moon returns to the same nakshatra. It is entirely optional, and it is not a sign of bad luck for the child or for anyone in the family. The next date when the Moon returns to this nakshatra is shown in the kundli.
