What it is
Hora is the simplest varga. Each sign has two equal halves of 15°. In Parāśara's method these halves, whatever the sign, carry only two names: the Sun's hora, shown as Leo, and the Moon's hora, shown as Cancer. So in ePandit's D2 chart every planet sits in either Leo or Cancer. That is not an error; it is how this method works.
How it is calculated
Rule: in an odd sign (Aries, Gemini, Leo…) the first 15° are the Sun's hora (Leo) and the next 15° the Moon's hora (Cancer). In an even sign (Taurus, Cancer, Virgo…) it is the reverse: first 15° Cancer, next 15° Leo.
Example: a planet is at Aries 17°. Aries is odd and 17° falls in the second half (15–30°), so in D2 the planet goes to Cancer, the Moon's hora. Had it been at Taurus 17°, the sign being even, it would go to Leo, the Sun's hora.
What tradition looks at in it
Parāśara links the hora to wealth and resources. Tradition associates the Sun's hora with earning through one's own effort, initiative and public work, and the Moon's hora with keeping, nurturing and growing resources through family and people. Astrologers note which hora holds the lords of the 2nd and 11th houses and Jupiter. It shows a leaning; both horas are treated as helpful in their own way.
How much the birth time matters
On average the ascendant moves about 1 degree every 4 minutes; some signs rise faster, some slower. One part of D2 is 15°, so a difference of roughly 60 minutes in birth time can change the D2 ascendant. The Moon too needs about a day to cross one hora, so the planets' horas rarely change with birth time. In your chart, ePandit shows next to every varga how many minutes of birth-time change would shift its ascendant. D2 is among the least sensitive vargas; still, if your ascendant is near 15°, treat its hora with care.
How to read it calmly
Read D2 as a second look, not a verdict. Tradition first studies the 2nd and 11th houses and their lords in the main chart (D1), then the running dasha. D2 only helps check whether the same theme shows up here as well. A planet's sign in this varga decides nothing on its own. In money matters your effort, judgement and circumstances do the real work; the hora is only tradition's way of describing a leaning.
